Rare Bugs Catching Tips and Tricks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The rarest and the finest bugs are not easy to find nor catch. We have a couple of tips and tricks up our sleeve for finding them in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Also, we have made a list of all the rare bugs. Also, the detailed features to catch them so that things are a bit easier.

Tip #1

One essential thing is to walk instead of running towards the bug. Once you spot start to walk because it reduces the chances of the bug sensing you. Simply get your net ready by holding down A and walk slowly towards it. This will maximise your chances of catching rare bugs.

Tip #2

Another important thing to keep in mind is that new bugs will not appear on an island that is full of bugs. The reason is that each island can only hold a specific number of bugs.

Tip #3

Also, keep in mind that you need to go bug hunting. Bug hunting at different times based on when your specific bug spawns. Some spawn during 7 PM to 5 AM (tarantulas) while others spawn only during the morning or the afternoon.

Tip #4

One great tip is to have an extra net or two in your inventory in case your current one is broken. Remember that catching grasshoppers can lead to holes in your net. Ofcourse you don’t want to miss out on catching a rare bug because of a broken net.

Tip #5

You can also spawn your desired bugs. To bring this tip to life, first search up the rare bug you wish to catch. Then get all the details about it. Then curate the island according to the needs of the bug to increase your chance of encountering it as much as possible. In this there is a need to chop down a lot of trees, dig up stumps and destroy flowers to reduce the chances of unnecessary bugs from spawning. Moreover, you wouldn’t want to ruin the scenery of your own island, so hence we recommend going to a mysterious island. Also, you can get access to a mystery island by going to the Resident Services’ kiosk and redeeming 2000 Nook miles for a Nook Miles Ticket. Then, use this ticket to fly with Dodo airlines and get to the island.

Once you are on the island, remove the spawning places of common bugs like trees, stumps, rocks and flower to ensure that there is room for your desired bug to spawn.

Tip #6

Alternatively, if you don’t want to ruin your island, you can opt for scaring away common bugs. This method isn’t as effective as the previous one but still works pretty well.

Any island can have only four or five bugs at a given time. If you let common bugs fill up these spots, then you won’t be able to get those rare critters. You can either run towards bugs to scare them off or catching them using your net and releasing them of the island.

Tip #7

Last but not least, make sure to keep your eyes and ears open. Rare bugs can be a little hard to spot, so be sure to check your surroundings constantly. You never know when a villager is hosting a flee, or a wharf roach is resting on a beach rock.
